Everybody Is Selling The Same Product. So What Should You Do?

Every now and then, there is a certain hot product on the Internet that receives a lot of hype even before it is launched. And when it is finally launched, it will sell like hot cakes. Next, you will see Internet marketing wannabes springing up everywhere promoting this product, all hoping to make a quick buck or two.

And within a few short months, the selling power of that product slowly fades away, because every tom, dick and harry is promoting the same old product which will eventually lead to market saturation. So how do you beat off all your competition selling the same product, and stand out from the rest?

You may think that the secret lies in some new-age Internet marketing technique. Well, the answer is no. The secret is actually an age-old marketing concept known as Unique Selling Proposition, or USP in short. Some online home business owners embrace this USP concept to successfully build their business. They believed that although this concept evolved many years ago, it has a seemingly endless life-span that, when put into good practice, can still produce amazing results in today’s world.

And when the Internet began to evolve and explode into a phenomenon, online businesses flourished, and Internet marketing professionals took advantage of the situation and used USP as one of their secret ammunition to crush their competitors.

What Is The Unique Selling Proposition?

A unique selling proposition is something which the entertainment industry likes to be associated with, and that is the X-factor. This elusive factor is something which top models have in common to distinguish themselves from the mediocre. It will make your offer seem so excitingly different from the crowd.

With this X-factor, your offer will somehow seem to be more appealing than all the rest to your prospects. And this is despite the fact that your competitors are all selling the same product as you.

A unique selling proposition is something that you add to your offer, and it can be in many forms. Let us take a closer look at some of these forms:

1. Adding bonuses to make your product more appealing
2. Offer cash rebates to anyone who ordered through your affiliate link.
3. Giving discounts for your future offers.
4. Including memberships to exclusive clubs as a reward for their purchases.
5. Implementing a points system for every purchase, with such points eventually becoming redeemable for your future offers.
6. Organize a contest with the receipts of your customers as entry tickets.
7. Provide excellent post-sales services that your competitors are not willing to do.
8. Invite your new customers to become your partners once they make a purchase.
9. Offer a lifetime guarantee for your products.
10. Offer a refund policy that extends longer than what your competitors can allow.

These are just some of the many examples of USP techniques that you can use. Of course, there are many others that you can think of. Such is the beauty of USP, it is flexible as it is potent; it is as versatile as it is timeless. You are only limited to your own imagination.

So how on earth are you going to find your USP?

For any type of business, it is always important to apply some imagination and innovation, and USP is no different. It is a process of imagination, fueled by inspiration, and a burning desire to excel in your field of expertise.

Another point to take note of is that you must continuously do a market research on your niche, so that you will have a clearer understanding of what your target market is expecting from you. Once you have a clearer understanding, you can then set out to perfect the USP concept.

You would have to constantly analyze the market trends, or you can also gather valuable feedback from your customers via surveys or other means like email. Once you have cracked the secret code that will make your market tick via USP, then the rest will be smooth sailing.
